Biography

Pierce Shaltis is an emerging orchestral conductor who holds a degree in Music Education from Rowan University and is currently pursuing advanced study in orchestral conducting at the University of Delaware under the mentorship of Dr. James Allen Anderson.

As a master’s student, he has had the opportunity to conduct a wide range of repertoire, from orchestral works such as Leonard Bernstein’s Overture to Candide and George Walker’s Lyric for Strings to musical theatre and operas including Vincenzo Bellini’s I Capuleti e I Montecchi.

Pierce is eager to explore new repertoire and fosters a collaborative, passionate approach to music-making. His work strives for clarity of gesture, analytical score study, and historically and stylistically informed rehearsal practice. He aims to inspire musicians, bring music to life, and create performances that are engaging for all who wish to share the joy of music.
